The Lois Ambitho Foundation (LAF) is a Kenyan community-based organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable and underserved members of society, with a special focus on elderly individuals who are neglected, abandoned, sick, or living in isolation. The foundation was established out of compassion and personal experience by its founder, Christine Langi, a former UK-based nurse practitioner, whose journey of caring for her late mother, Lois Ambitho, inspired a lifelong commitment to restoring dignity, care, and companionship to elderly persons facing hardship.
At LAF, we believe that every individual deserves to age with dignity, respect, and access to essential care regardless of their social or economic circumstances. Many elderly people in our communities live without family support, proper shelter, adequate nutrition, or access to healthcare. Our mission is to bridge this gap by providing practical support and emotional companionship that enhances their wellbeing and restores hope in their later years.
Since its inception, the foundation has identified over 200 elderly individuals in need of assistance and continues to provide consistent support through feeding programs, home visits, medical assistance, shelter repair initiatives, and social interaction at our day care center. These programs not only address immediate needs but also combat loneliness and social isolation, creating a sense of belonging and community among beneficiaries.
Our long-term vision is to establish a permanent residential home where elderly individuals can live safely while receiving continuous medical attention, nutrition, and emotional support in a caring and humane environment. Through partnerships with volunteers, donors, and well-wishers, the Lois Ambitho Foundation continues to expand its impact and advocate for the dignity, protection, and wellbeing of elderly persons within society.
