Emotional and social support is a critical part of LAF’s mission, addressing the loneliness and isolation that many elderly individuals face. The foundation organizes structured social activities, including group discussions, storytelling sessions, and interactive workshops, which foster connection, camaraderie, and emotional resilience. By promoting social engagement, LAF helps elders feel valued and included within their communities.
Human connection is medicine for the soul; no one should age in isolation.
Ronnie Odera, LAF PR & Communication Coordinator
Social support also has measurable effects on mental health. Participating in group activities reduces symptoms of depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline, while encouraging meaningful interactions with peers. Volunteers and staff create a nurturing environment where elders can share experiences, celebrate milestones, and form lasting friendships.
Beyond organized activities, emotional support is provided through one-on-one interactions, listening sessions, and counseling. LAF staff are trained to recognize emotional distress and offer comfort, guidance, or referral to specialized care when necessary. By prioritizing emotional well-being alongside physical care, LAF ensures a holistic approach to the lives of the elderly.
